We are looking for a Senior Developer who is responsible for the development, improvement , and support of Finance applications and other tools/underlying technology. The person filling this position is expected to work smoothly with peers across Technology and the Business. They are required to translate business requirements into high quality, technical solutions whilst contributing to the culture of continuous innovation within the team. 

You will be working for a large Australian based company within the Insurance domain who are building a brand new team. The company are based in the Sydney CBD and this is a hybrid role (mix between the office and WFH). 

Responsibilities:

- Understand the technology roadmap and work closely with the Development Manager.
- Build an understanding of the product on a technical and functional level, understanding the context of stakeholders.
- Develop reliable, usable software which meets business requirements within the required time frames while minimising technical debt
- Ensure that security, performance, high availability and other non-functional requirements are met for solution development
- Ensure that Epics and User Stories have complete and well-understood Acceptance Criteria
- Write user stories as required (Break down user stories into tasks and provide relative estimates)
- Resolve issues and risks within your immediate control and escalate when necessary
- Contribute to the strong culture of high quality, continuous improvement and innovation by following existing standards, helping to identify and enforce improvements to standards as required and sharing ideas and experience
- Provide Level 3 support for the software that the team builds
- Script and execute automated tests as required/applicable


Essential skills:

- 5+ years as a .NET Software Developer
- Experience working on MS Azure and MS SQL Server
- Experience in delivering solutions in modern Azure Cloud hosted environments, AzureDevOps, ASB, Function Apps is desirable
- A good understanding across Integration and platform tools
- Working knowledge across JavaScript
- Financial Services/Insurance industry background
- Experience working with SDLC management platforms such as JIRA and Confluence
- Experience with Test Driven Development practices.
- Experience working with SSIS (desirable)
- Agile Delivery experience
- Experience in Finance systems is desirable (i.e. PeopleSoft, Prophet, EPM)
