Our client is one of Australia's leading insurance groups. They are renowned within the market as an employer of choice offering superb career growth and employee experience. They are currently going through an exciting period of growth and transformation and as such have a newly created statutory and regulatory accountant position within their high calibre finance team. 

Reporting to the Senior Financial Reporting Manager you will focus on delivering financial, statutory and regulatory reporting for the group as well as being integrally involved in a variety of projects currently ongoing.  Specific deliverables will include:

  • Preparing financial, statutory and regulatory reports
  • Preparing statistical and financial returns required by the regulatory authorities.
  • Ensuring the correct and effective maintenance of the organisation's financial accounting and general ledger systems.
  • Regular liaison with both the internal and external auditors.
  • Ensure adherence Financial Control Accounting policy (impacting statutory, regulatory and management reporting).
  • Drive and implement change and improvement of processes within the reporting team
  • Involvement in a range of projects from a finance perspective (IFRS 17, finance transformation, integration of acquisition)

This is an excellent opportunity for either a financial accountant currently working within the insurance industry or a Big 4 first mover with insurance clients looking to join a leading insurer in a broad and varied role with excellent career progression prospects.

Required skills and experience:

  • CA / CPA qualified accountant with minimum 3 years experience either in Big 4 audit firm (with insurance clients) or within a financial accounting role within the insurance industry
  • Exposure to financial, statutory and/or regulatory (APRA) reporting
  • Solid grasp of the business drivers of an insurance business
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ambitious and career driven
