Our client is a leading insurance group and employer of choice. Due to an internal move they have an opportunity for a qualified financial accountant with insurance experience to join their high performing and collaborative regulatory reporting team.  

This is a great role which will be focused on 50% BAU and 50% project activities. Reporting into the head of regulatory reporting and capital key deliverables will include:

  • Ensuring all regulatory returns are prepared in accordance with regulatory requirements and submitted on time
  • Staying up-to-date on APRA prudential standards and reporting requirements, being able to interpret APRA guidelines changes and assess the impacts on regulatory reporting and capital requirements.
  • Identifying issues, information gaps for regulatory reporting and engaging across various divisions, eg. Finance, IT, Technical to continuously improve and streamline the regulatory reporting process.
  • Responsible for the ongoing process improvement of Regulatory reporting processes.
  • Active participation in regulatory reporting related projects driven by regulatory requirements changes, Accounting standard changes and business acquisitions.
  • Supporting capital management team in Internal Capital Model (ICM) calculation process
  • Responsible for monthly capital base and dividend estimations, monitoring the capital adequacy position for the company and flagging any issues.
  • Responsible for capital base projections in annual planning process to assess future dividend capacity of the Company.
  • Supporting annual Standard & Poors (S&P) review meeting and the presentation pack to maintain credit rating.
  • Responsible for survey submissions to Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) and New Zealand Statistics.
  • Ensuring all regulatory reporting process and controls are adequately documented and updated

Required skills and experience:


  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) or close to completion.
  • Experience in performing APRA/regulatory reporting in a medium to large Financial services organisation.
  • Solid knowledge of Accounting standards and APRA prudential standards.
  • A positive, proactive and resilient attitude 
  • High attention to detail
  • Strong stakeholder management.
  • The ability to communicate effectively 
  • Demonstrated evidence of technical proficiency with systems, software, databases, reporting and communication tools
