The Company: 

This is a leading international law firm with magic circle status. You will be supporting the finance department with direct lines to the CFO and Senior Finance Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a diverse, fast-paced environment, acting as a key business partner.


Responsibilities: 

  • Preparation of the month-end journal entries, review of trial balance, month-end balance sheet reconciliations and other month-end reports;
  • Assist in group, local statutory and internal audits i.e. reviewing and preparing schedules for audit enquires; preparing year-end adjustments;
  • Assist in corporate and partner’s tax filing for Hong Kong office;
  • Work with CFO and Senior Finance Manager in annual budget preparation and liaise with head of departments on their review of the forecast and budget;
  • Preparation of Cash Forecast and monitoring the office treasury functions. Promptly communicate with UK Treasury Team to ensure surplus of cash/request for funding are organised to meet the office requirements;
  • Assist in preparation of monthly budget holder reports and provide commentaries on variances;
  • Ensure Hong Kong office’s accounting functions are in compliance with the Hong Kong SAR and UK SRA Accounts Rules;
  • Review and update of the Accounts Payable and bank authorisation matrix to ensure segregation of duties is established;
  • Working with the CFO and Senior Finance Manager to ensure that there are effective and efficient financial processes and control in place to support the firm’s financial operations;
  • Provide support and supervision to the Accounts Payable team;
  • Preparation of ad-hoc financial reporting on a needed basis.


Requirements: 
 
  • Knowledge of Hong Kong tax system and audit standards
  • Familiar with the Hong Kong SAR and UK SRA Accounts Rules
  • Strong technical skills in financial accounting
  • Good verbal and written English and Chinese communication and interpersonal skills to interact with lawyers and members of the Finance Support and other Business Support functions effectively
  • Strong team spirit and a role model for the Accounts Payable team
  • Able to work independently, positive working attitude and maintain high quality and accuracy
  • Flexible and ability to handle multiple priorities, willing to assist the team and firm at peak times
  • Good organisational and time management skills; able to deal with urgent requests and meet deadlines
  • Diligent and able to pay close attention to detail
  • Professional qualification from a recognised accountancy body;
  • Strong understanding of general ledger, accounting and finance functions;
  • Intermediate to advanced level in Excel, Word and Outlook;
  • Working experience in a global firm with exposure to multi-currency environment is an advantage;
  • Working experience in the legal sector/ professional services field is an advantage;
  • Experience of using Elite 3E software is an advantage.
