Our client is seeking a highly skilled IT Business Analyst to be part of their growing Data Team in Singapore, where you'll play a key role in delivering a modern data platform using Azure services and Databricks. As a member of the team, you'll be responsible for enabling a more data-driven approach to commercial decision-making, risk management, and operations.

Responsibilities:

As part of this exciting initiative, you'll be tasked with delivering new capabilities across the business, including:

  • A central warehouse of near real-time trade, valuation, and risk data
  • A central hub for sharing real-time prices and analytics
  • Pipelines for scraping, analysing, and visualizing market prices and fundamental data
  • Processes and tools for data governance and discovery
  • You'll be reporting to the Lead Business Analyst - Data and will work collaboratively with a technical team responsible for integration, data engineering, and software engineering/release management. In this role, you'll also provide 3rd line support to users and help capture issues and changes in the IT JIRA ticketing system.

Your responsibilities will also include:

  • Working with users to understand and prioritize their needs, creating prototypes, worked examples, or mock-ups where necessary to clarify functional requirements
  • Performing hands-on system or data analysis to define system requirements
  • Designing and implementing reports and solutions to fulfil the functional and system requirements
  • Documenting system change requests through a JIRA backlog of epics/user-stories
  • Working with other members of the Data Team to breakdown, design, and estimate changes
  • Supporting the Product Owner in agile delivery teams delivering changes
  • Performing testing and running UAT
  • Supporting release planning and go-live
  • Creating user documentation and provide training
  • In addition, you'll be responsible for hands-on support for users in data, reporting, and analysis, helping users set up and use the framework and undertaking hands-on work to support end-users. You'll also act as a data steward, building relationships with Data Owners in the business, and supporting the setup and administration of role-based access control across different components.

Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you'll need to be proactive in engaging with users and other members of the Data team in a collaborative and open manner. You must be able to communicate effectively when explaining business concepts and associated technical requirements and be comfortable running meetings and workshops across groups made up of users and technical teams.

Have a blend of technical, business, and communication skills that allow you to establish yourself as a peer to Trading and Middle Office Analysts, as well as Analyst Developers within IT. You must have a passion for technology and a desire to have a hands-on role helping business users better exploit and manage data.

Additionally, you hold a Bachelor's degree in a numerate subject or equivalent professional qualification, along with at least five years of experience as an IT Business Analyst, Analyst Developer, or FO/MO Analyst within a trading house, investment bank, or through a tier-1 vendor/consultancy. Ideally you have experience working with commodities trading and ETRM applications, as well as with data, analysis, and BI tools such as SQL, PowerQuery, Excel, Python, DataBricks, SnowFlake, Power BI, and Tableau.
