We are looking to hire a line 1 operational risk manager to support the extreme growth and profitability of the company in the last 24 months.  There is already a strong risk culture and mature risk framework in place, this role will  partner with the business (traders, engineers, operations) to continually strengthen and improve risk management.

This business only hires smart, articulate individuals with a high level of capability and aptitude. Because of the nature of the work (controls testing/assurance) you will likely be an ex big 4 consultant within risk advisory or audit, an auditor or a line 1 risk professional with a background (or strong interest) within financial markets.

  • Contribute to the continued development of an overarching Risk and Control framework, improving the maturity of risk identification, escalation, assessment and remediation processes in those areas.
  • Contribute to the Risk Management & Assurance strategy across APAC, ensuring best in class assurance practices are deployed in the organisation.
  • Contribute to the Risk Assurance activities, ensuring reviews are completed to the highest standard, in depth analyses are undertaken and control owners deliver on accountabilities, all with the objective of elevating risk management effectiveness.
  • Opine on the reporting and investigation of risk incidents, ensuring, in partnership with risk owners, that those outside accepted risk appetite are sufficiently escalated and remediated.
  • Collaborate with team leads and promote a challenging risk dialogue, driving a risk first culture that allows for emerging issues to be discussed, debated and addressed in a timely manner.
  • Forge strong and effective relationships with your key stakeholders, while challenging the status quo with respect to risk management in those groups.
  • Collaborate with 1st line (in-business) ORM Trading and IT SME's to align on strategic direction for our control framework and opine on operational risk management in these departments.
  • A relevant bachelor’s degree.
  • Further post degree qualifications in Finance, Business, Accounting or Risk Management.
  • Experience in ORM, Audit or risk management, with a specific focus on Assurance work, ideally 5+ years in internal audit, or risk advisory in a major Chartered Accounting firm.
  • Exposure to Trading and/or IT related risks in trading industry
  • Able to understand, optimize and design complex processes with a strong focus on internal controls.
  • An advocate for behavioural and cultural change, being able to influence individuals to improve risk and control awareness. Ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders while challenging the status quo.
  • Ability to relatively quickly assess a broad range of risks and form a conviction in which areas deeper exploration is required.
  • Knowledge of and passion for external trends and best practices related to risk in our industry.
