Job Title: Compliance Specialist
Location: Hong Kong
Job Type: Fixed Term Contract


Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Hong Kong and Caribbean and Asia Compliance Team with the day-to-day running of the Caribbean and Asia Compliance function;
  • Assist in the implementation and analysis of jurisdictional policies, procedures, and processes, where necessary;
  • Be up to date with regulatory issues relevant to the firm, and be able to identify potential threats of non-compliance and escalate as necessary;
  • Periodically assist with the testing of internal policies as part of the Compliance Monitoring Program;
  • Have a good working knowledge of the Risk and Compliance manual(s);
  • Assist with complaints, breaches, errors and data protection reporting and review process;
  • Act as a point of contact for compliance queries from partners and staff;
  • Provide technical guidance and support to administration teams and relevant the firm entities, including the review of high risk clients/matters;
  • Provide input on AML/ CFT risks for the onboarding of new customers;
  • Assist with the preparation of AML/CFT compliance analyses that need to be brought to the attention of Senior Management / the respective Boards;
  • Assist with any regulatory reporting needs which may include preparing and completing filings, where necessary
  • Assist with the preparation and maintenance of Suspicious Activity Reports log as required;
  • Support Risk and Compliance Team projects as and when required whilst balancing support on complex jurisdictional cases raised to Compliance;
  • Maintain awareness with current money laundering trends and typographies and provide/assist with relevant training to all partners, directors and staff where necessary; and
  • Supporting the firm’s One Best Way ethos across the team through rigorous process analysis to drive alignment and consistency. Contributing towards the business as a whole in identifying process improvements, improvements in policies and procedures and any other service innovation changes that would improve the client experience.


Requirements:
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent from a recognised university or college with at least two years in a similar role with a regulatory, legal or financial services related background;
  • Experience with Cayman and BVI AML/CFT regulations is an advantage. Knowledge of regulatory requirements for other jurisdictions where the firm operates, (e.g. Hong Kong and Singapore) and ability to apply this knowledge in practice is desirable but not essential;
  • ICA/ACAMS (or working towards) or equivalent qualification preferred;
  • Knowledge and understanding of various vehicles / fund structures as well as fiduciary and company administration operations specific to the relevant Caribbean and Hong Kong jurisdiction(s);
  • Maintain and develop a good relationship with internal and external clients; ;
  • Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good analytical and organisational skills and ability to prioritise work load and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to make decisions and use own initiative within the scope of regulatory requirements, policy and procedures;
  • Positive attitude and willing to take on responsibility with the ability to keep resilient under pressure; and
  • Good understanding of SharePoint and ViewPoint database(s) a plus.
