Our client is a leading global insurance group currently going through a number of major transformation and implementation programs within their finance function.  As such they are looking for a number of senior regulatory and statutory accountants to join the finance team to back-fill current team members moving onto projects and secondments. 

Reporting to the Financial Controller you will focus on:

  • Timely delivery of complete and accurate local and group reporting processes, including month/quarter end close processes,
  • Lead discussions with stakeholders in Finance and the business to resolve issues and support other team members in the close process.
  • Manage reporting areas or functions, related corporate entities, underwriting agency results, reporting to government bodies 
  • Implement and maintain an appropriate control framework to ensure complete, accurate and timely reporting. Proactively improve month-end processes and controls through appropriate risk recognition and mitigation.
  • Prepare quarterly balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances proactively.
  • Establish strong working relationships within and outside of Finance, be a 'go-to person' for areas of responsibility and understand the business, their strategies and drivers, and the connection to figures reported. Support the team in developing these networks.
  • Deliver year-end financial statement compilation process, including full analysis of figures, preparation of Board / Audit Committee papers. Assist in coordinating and facilitating requests from the external auditor.
  • Assisting with ad-hoc projects - e.g. implementation of new accounting standards, review of strategic business proposals, acquisitions/divestment's.
You will be a qualified accountant with strong financial, statutory and/or regulatory reporting experience within a financial services environment and be available at short notice.  Will also consider candidates on working holiday visas from Big 4 / chartered accounting backgrounds.
