Join an international Life and Health reinsurance business as Chief Underwriter and Claims Head (HNW, Retail Business) , Southeast Asia . In this role, you will lead a team of experienced underwriters to appraise and underwrite complex risks across Individual, Group and HNW business.You will manage BAU operations of the underwriting team and work closely with internal stakeholders. You will build and maintain strong client relationships, gain in-depth understanding of their needs and business priorities. This is a role that commands strong technical life and health underwriting expertise and excellent business management capabilities to succeed. The role will be based in Singapore.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for underwriting risk acceptance process and ensure underwriting decisions are in line with risk framework.
  • BAU operational responsibilities and oversight of team of underwriters, including case referrals product approval requests.
  • Client relationships engagement and building strong working relationships, include regular visitations to client markets in SEAsia.
  • Negotiation of underwriting and claims decisions, assess and approve claims and coordinate complex claims investigations internally.
 
Key Experience
  • Degree in Business/Medical or related field
  • Professional qualifications in life insurance underwriting / insurance industry  FALU, ALHC, ACII) is required.
  • 20 years underwriting experience across complex Life, Disability and CI risks.
  • Proven HNW underwriting experience in Singapore (or Hong Kong) is required.
  • Excellent communication sills to engage and influence stakeholders.
  • Sea Market experience and relationships would be favourable.
  • Required to travel in the Asia region.
