This opportunity would suit someone who is looking for a Risk role that gives them the following : firstly - a highly experienced and very supportive manager who anticipates this person being in the role for 12-18 months helping to mature the controls environment before moving on to a different area - line 2 risk, FinCrime, Project work around Digital Transformation, business processes etc - there will be a lot of options.

Secondly you will have access to Heads of and GM level stakeholders, you will be able to get the experience of interacting and influencing at this level as well as developing your personal brand across multiple business areas.  Thirdly, this business acquired another bank last year - they are in the midst of a digital transformation whilst combining the systems and people. The kind of experience within Risk & Transformation you will gain is a real skillset and CV builder for a risk professional.

I would be very interested in having a discussion with you if you come from a financial services backgrounds (Banking/Insurance/Super) and have either a line 1 or audit risk controls background. This role would also suit someone from professional services who wants to move into a risk controls environment within banking.
Role Responsibilities
  • Uplifting the accuracy of controls and their descriptions in the centralised GRC, this includes
    1. Review previously captured controls,
    2. Accurate documentation of key controls
    3. Ensuring a governance model is in place and engaging with business owners.
  • Conduct controls testing as required per the framework, ensuring centralised test scripts are developed, shared and reported against in timely manner.
  • Take the lead on improving overall usage of the GRC system and work closely with Line 2 to introduce practical solutions that increase functionality and support Risk Managers in completing day to day operations. Ideally the system will mature to a point where leaders outside of risk teams can access their own Risk Profiles and use the system to proactively manage risks within their business.
Role Requirements
  • Experience in banking/finance, including at least 5 years experience in risk or a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of risk and audit practices, including the 3 Lines of Defence (3LOD) model.
  • An understanding of banking/finance specific regulations and compliance requirements.
  • The ability to formulate a compelling position in the Bank’s interests, internally and externally, in consultation with internal risk and compliance staff, to ensure compliance is a top priority across the division.
  • Superior relationship building and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with personnel across a wide variety of areas and organisational levels.
  • Well developed analytical and problem solving skills.
