Our client is a leading global financial services group and employer of choice. They are currently looking for an experienced senior accountant from a financial services background to join their high performing finance function to cover for a team member moving onto a long term secondment.  

Reporting to the financial controller this will be a broad role offering exposure across BAU financial control and reporting, projects and also management accounting and analysis. 

Specific deliverables:
  • General Ledger: Take ownership of and be accountable for (parts of) the General ledger, including ensuring appropriate controls are in place.
  • Support internal financial and management reporting: Accurate and timely reporting to internal stakeholders, both locally and at head office, with a focus on clear messaging and obtaining a good understanding of the result and what it means.
  • External financial reporting: Responsible for ensuring all APRA, ASIC, ABS and RBNZ reporting obligations are met
  • Assist with IFRS standards project work and actively participate and follow the implementation program to identify opportunities

This is an 18 month FTC which could potentially lead to longer term or permanent opportunities within the group.  

Key skills and experience:
  • CPA or ACA qualified 
  • 4+ years working within working experience (essential), preferably from financial services Industry or Big 4 audit firm having prepared audit files, Financial Statements and liaised with external auditors (highly desirable)
  • Financial accounting experience (essential)
  • Ledger entry experience (essential). Experience of dealing with a group/head office structure (preferred)
  • Knowledge of Australian (AIFRS) & International (IFRS) Financial Reporting Standards as well as APRA prudential standards and guidance
  • Strong skills in MS Office (essential)
