My client is a leading tech-driven international financial services company.  With a regional head office based in Sydney, they are one of APAC's leading operators in their specialist field, trading a range of financial products across multiple exhanges. 

I have been engaged to assist with the recruitment of a critical role in their APAC Financial Control team. The Senior Financial Accountant will take ownership of the financial reporting requirements for the Australia and APAC operations and it's associated entities, whilst also partnering with the business, providing them with meaningful insights and analysis on overall financial performance.
      
Your key responsibilities will include:    
  • Preparation of half year and year end financial reporting for the Australia and APAC legal entities
  • Consolidation of financial reporting schedules as per the Head Office requirements 
  • Contributing to an accurate and efficient month end close, including performing trial balance review and commentary.
  • Interpretation of IFRS and development of accounting policies for the group 
  • Consult and develop technical papers in respect of new business initiatives 
  • Assist with monthly management reporting to be submitted to senior management.
  • Identifying improvement in processes, controls and workpapers, and ensuring these are well documented.
  • Drive process and system change on an ad-hoc basis   
  • Ensure compliance with the risk and control framework
Candidate background experience:
  • CA / CPA qualified with circa 6 + years experience
  • Professional services experience (Big 4 or 2nd tier Chartered Accounting firm) with exposure to banking and/or financial services industry and clients preferred
  • Hands-on experience working in a similar Financial Control function, with demonstrated financial accounting / financial reporting experience 
  • End-to end Product Control experience will also be considered
  • Comfortable working in a complex and fast paced environment
  • A flair for identifying weaknesses and driving process change and automation.
