The Role & Organisation

This is a broad role in the 2nd Line of Defence at a foreign bank (ADI)'s Sydney Branch. You will be reporting into the CRO and Head of Risk Management as the sole Operational & IT Risk resource.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
  • Maintain and implement relevant policies and procedures (e.g. operations, incident and breach, fraud, risk management framework) ensuring alignment with the Bank’s Risk Management policy & objectives.
  • Update operational risk policies and procedures with regards to regulatory updates and risk management principles.
  • Implement risk management framework and relevant policies and procedures in the daily operating.
  • Update and monitor the Bank’s risk limits in accordance with principles stated in relevant policies .
  • Implement and monitor risk management processes and activities.
  • Conduct risk & control assessments, assist the lines of business in developing risk profiles and identifying main risk factors.
  • Assist with establishing improved processes and control framework.
  • Review and assess potential risks associated with new products and processes.
  • Liaise with regulators and auditors in conjunction with the Department Head.
  • Prepare relevant reports and analysis to Management and Committee.
  • Participate in ad hoc projects.
Skills & Experience
  • Tertiary qualified, with 3-5 years of risk management experience in Australian Banking industry.
  • Solid understanding of APRA and ASIC requirements, principles, practices, theories and concepts relating to operational risk management.
  • Familiarity with and background in IT Risk Requirements under APS 234 and related requirements is desirable but not essential.Experience in operational requirements of foreign branch ADIs is desirable.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Team player who's able to self organise and deliver to conflicting deadlines.
  • Mandarin Chinese skill is desirable.
