The Role & The Organisation

Our client is one of the most reputable Financial Institutions in Australia. You will join their Financial Crime Intelligence team sitting in Line 1, and provide tailored, fit-for-purpose compliance advice to Retail & Business Banking stakeholders driving a high and consistent level of implementation of legislations and policy requirements.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day advisory to business stakeholders on financial crime risk policies, procedures and standards (AMLCTF, CDD, Sanctions, AB&C).
  • Support the senior management team in establishing, maturing, and maintaining the business level financial-crime risk related guidance, standards and procedures to accompany the provision of advice.
  • Actively challenge and assess the effectiveness of business BAU processes in managing financial crime risk.
  • Participate in various business initiative discussions to explore new business opportunity whilst making sure financial crime risks are well managed in line with agreed protocols.
  • Partner with key stakeholders (such as Line 2 Risk & Compliance, Change Management, Product and Technology and Operations) to continuously improve financial crime risk management efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Provide training in line with endorsed principles and stakeholder inputs to support the implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Support the senior management team to maintain appropriate reporting for relevant governance committees pertaining to financial crime risks.
The Requirements
  • 3-5 years of experience in a risk and controls function focused on financial crime risk within a large banking organisation with exposure across multiple retail and business banking products.
  • Project based financial crime risk advisory experience is preferred. Alternatively, you may have gained similar experience whilst consulting banking clients at a professional services firm.
  • Solid technical knowledge around CDD, AML/CTF, Sanction, AB&C policy and control, with a thorough understanding of Anti-Money Laundering legislation and regulations in Australia, Sanctions and Bribery and Corruption laws/regulations implemented by Australia government and other main countries/international organisations.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management capabilities to influence key stakeholders through effective communication and persuasive presentations.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and to make independent decisions with the condition that all decisions are assessed in a risk-based approach and with good understanding of the policy requirement.
