Job Responsibility 

Reporting to the Application Support Team Leader, your job responsibilities include but not limited to the following:
  • Provide a consistently high level of customer service for the provision of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) to the business
  • As part of the ICT team to provide daily operational support of the ICT environment.
  • Prioritise effectively and provide 1st and 2nd level incident management support to the business
  • Analyse, design, development, testing and support of application software systems
  • Develop user documentation or training materials for specific applications
  • Analyse source codes, diagnose defects in applications and fix problems
  • Create necessary bug fixes and integrate new enhancements into existing software architecture
  • Deploy system changes using the Standard Change Control process which involve thorough testing, documentation and communication. Ensure that appropriate change control procedures for applications & information systems are followed
  • Perform regular Database Administration tasks, Database improvements and support.
  • Support production system commissioning, server hardening and follow up on vulnerabilities identified during audit reviews and day to day reports by stakeholders
  • Work with respective system stakeholders on UNIX/system enhancements and improvements on IT operation stability
  • Implement and support issues related to electronic data interchange (EDI) that uses HL7 or other protocol
  • Produce required information, e.g. data extracts and reporting to assist in all laboratories operations. Process and record IT service requests E.g. New Panels, profiles, clinics and prices update
  • Address issues relating to ULTRA LIS, iNET, UNIFY, HL7, Imaging and other LIS support systems in an appropriate manner.
  • Provide application end user support
  • Continuously evaluate needs of the company and clients. Evaluate how changes may be made to the current system to facilitate users and to continuously improve the quality of the service.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of a strategy to support the LIS systems and to meet business requirements
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies, standards and guidelines for all applications including the LIS
  • Assist IT vendors in the installation and maintenance of a variety of software and hardware.
  • Perform other assigned duties and involve in ad-hoc projects as required or requested

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor Degree in Biological/ Medical Science, Electronic or Computer Science with minimum 2 years hands-on software development experience
  • Strong technical skills in JAVA JDK, JPA, JavaScript, Oracle Database & SQL
  • Sound knowledge of software development life cycle (SDLC)
  • Good experience in UNIX/Linux scripting e.g. shell scripting, awk, Perl etc.
  • Knowledge of key aspects of pathology operations, laboratory processes and workflows and ULTRA Laboratory System (an advantage)
  • Sound knowledge of UNIFY and/or Oracle database design and operation (an advantage)
  • Production of reports from ULTRA’s UNIFY® database (an advantage)
  • Accell 4GL enhancements and fault correction (bug fixes)
  • Maintenance and support of core Ultra programs written in C
  • Knowledge of other programming language, e.g. C, Python, PHP, CSS etc
  • Ability to write accurate specifications / requirement documents
  • Proficient in standard programming practices and some project management skills
  • Sufficient knowledge of key aspects of IT services so as to perform on-call support duties, as required, including a broad understanding of email, office and corporate applications, servers, SAN, LAN/WAN and PC support
