Responsibilities:
  • Performing end-to-end audits, project reviews and special ad-hoc reviews in accordance with the councils Audit Methodology and professional internal auditing standards within agreed budget and timeframe, including:-
  • Preparing work papers and risk and controls matrix.
  • Assisting in preparing the draft audit report.
  • Develop and implement a three-year internal audit plan based on a risk assessment of key strategic and operational areas.
  • Communicating audit findings to business management throughout the audit.
  • Analysing observations and test results to develop audit findings and recommendations.
  • Preparing the draft audit observations.
  • Ensure internal audit activities comply with statutory requirements, best practice, standards and guidance from the Institute of Internal Auditors (Australia) - International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF).
  •  Provide assurance to the Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee on the adequacy and effectiveness of the Council’s governance frameworks, risk management practices and internal controls.
The successful candidate will need:
  • Tertiary (bachelor's degree or higher) qualifications equivalent to a Certified Internal Auditor and professional membership of the Institute of Internal Auditors, or equivalent.
  • Significant experience managing and conducting end to end internal audits (from planning to reporting) in diverse organisations, with sound organisation skills and ability to meet multiple competing timelines for an array of projects and tasks.
  • Proven ability in applying the IPPF, including within technology audits
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in internal Audit.
  • Government experience is not a must BUT if you do not have this you will need to have had experience across an array of industries.
