As a 2LoD function for a Commercial Bank, the Senior Credit Risk Officer (2iC) is to primarily assist the Credit Risk Manager in maintaining the overall quality of the Australian Branch’s credit portfolio. They will also provide back-up and assistance to the Liquidity and Market Risk team and the Operational Risk & Compliance teams as required.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct independent credit reviews of commercial and corporate lending transactions (including but not limited to Commercial Property, Infrastructure, Energy, Wholesale etc) to assess any industry inherent risks and mitigants.
  • Write credit papers for transactions to be presented at local Credit Committee meetings.
  • Identify potential credit risks from the information sought from client documents.
  • Actively participate in credit risk discussions at both the Credit Committee and the Management Committee (AMC), addressing any material credit issues.
  • Ensure that the Australian Branch’s Credit Risk Management Framework and Policy, Credit Risk Appetite Statement and Credit Procedures documents are adequately maintained, can reflect sound lending practices and meet local Australian regulatory requirements.
  • Facilitate any necessary improvements to enhance the team’s knowledge and skills in the credit risk area.
Skills:
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience in a Credit / Credit Risk related function at an APRA regulated banking institution. Experience in either 1LoD or 2LoD will both be considered.
  • Sound understanding of credit analysis techniques for commercial / corporate borrowers.
  • Experience dealing with Financial Institutions and Property Investment clients are desirable. proposals.
  • Good understanding of the APRA Prudential Standards, especially the ones applicable to foreign ADI’s operating in Australia.
  • Ability to converse in Mandarin Chinese (writing is not required).
  • Can work in the Sydney CBD office five days per week.
