The Role – Primary Purpose:
 
This is a unique opportunity for a Risk Management Specialist in Health and Medical industry to join an iconic insurer, to influence the liabilities through loss prevention and intervention strategies. You will research, develop and make recommendations to improve the performance of clients by reducing risk exposure, frequency and severity of claims, hence to improve the sustainability of the portfolio.
 
Key Accountabilities:
 
  • Engage clients in the Health sector to influence their approach to operational risk management and loss prevention and to encourage a risk prevention mindset and generally uplift risk maturity.
  • Collaborate with underwriters and portfolio managers on prevention and intervention strategies.
  • Lead collaboration and information-sharing around best practice to drive sustainable solutions that minimise risk exposure, frequency, severity and encourage appropriate risk avoidance or minimisation opportunities.
  • Identify, investigate and develop effective mitigation options to incentivise better patient outcomes.
  • Provide underwriting annual agency risk insights for pricing considerations.
  • Keep abreast of risk management and loss prevention strategies to ensure best practice is appropriately integrated into the organisation’s loss prevention strategy.
  • Develop regular training and education programme, in collaboration with Clinical Excellence Commission, Heath Education & Training and other Health bodies.
  • Source, negotiate, manage, and review performance of any outsourced risk management experts
Requirements:
  • 8+ years of experience in either Insurance or Health industry, combined with exposure in risk management / claims / loss prevention / behavioral change.
  • Sound understanding of medical malpractice and contractual liability exposures and risk management approaches.
  • Recognised operational or insurance risk management qualification with appropriate risk management bodies such as ANZIFF, RMIA or GARP.
  • Adaptable, willing to apply technical skills and knowledge in new ways.
  • Self -driven, resourceful and willingness to upskill in specialised areas of liability that impact the health sector including Cyber.
  • Any knowledge of the public health sector is highly desirable.
