The Role
We are looking for an Operational Risk Specialist to join a global commodities trading firm in Singapore on a contract basis. This role will focus on operational risk management, internal controls, and process enhancement across trading and corporate functions. This is a one-year contract role.
 
You will work closely with senior management to ensure robust operational governance, strengthen control frameworks, and enhance operational resilience. The role is ideal for someone with deep experience in end-to-end trading operations, risk assessments, and workflow/process design.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Design, document, and maintain business workflows and process maps to strengthen operational governance across trading lines
  • Conduct operational risk assessments and control evaluations across trade desks and corporate functions
  • Identify control gaps, inefficiencies, and operational risks, recommending practical improvements
  • Develop operational risk frameworks, policies, and procedures aligned with industry best practices
  • Monitor key risk indicators and escalate emerging risks to senior management
 
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or a related field
  • At least 3 years of experience in an Operational Risk role – ideally from Commodities Trading
  • Strong understanding of operational risk frameworks, internal controls, and governance standards
  • Hands-on experience with business process mapping, SOPs, RACI matrices, control matrices, and risk & control self-assessment (RCSA)
  • Familiarity with trade lifecycle, post-trade processes, and operational controls (AML, KYC, sanctions, export control)
