The Role:
Our client, a distinguished financial services firm renowned for delivering integrated corporate advisory and compliance solutions across multiple jurisdictions, is experiencing significant growth. To support this expansion, they are seeking an in-house Deputy General Counsel to lead legal strategy for the Asia region while collaborating closely with the global management team headquartered in the UK. This pivotal role offers the opportunity to shape legal frameworks and drive strategic initiatives in a fast-paced, international environment.
 
In your new role, you will
  • Deliver high-level legal advice and support to global executives on a broad spectrum of corporate, commercial, transactional, regulatory, and compliance issues, ensuring alignment with the firm’s strategic objectives in Asia
  • Review and refine legal documents, including transaction agreements, commercial contracts, and standardized templates, to support seamless business operations
  • Manage relationships with external legal counsel, providing clear instructions and oversight to secure expert advice and representation when required
  • Monitor and analyze regulatory developments across jurisdictions, proactively designing and implementing robust policies to enhance compliance and strengthen governance protocols

Requirements
  • Qualified lawyer in Hong Kong or major common law jurisdiction
  • Minimum 4-10 years’ PQE in Corporate & Commercial practice with reputable law firms or financial institutions
  • Experience in advising trustees, fund houses would be an advantage but not a must
  • Strong attention to detail and able to work independently
  • Fluent in both English and Chinese
