A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Product Controller to join a progressive and high performing team based in Sydney.  The role responsibilities are broad ranging and the individual will provide effective independant control of both the Australia and APAC trading activities.

Specific role responsibilities include:
  • Accountability for the execution and reporting of daily P&L though validation and ownership of the trading balance sheet, trading position valuation, in-line with Product Control policy.
  • Ownership of the month end Trading ledger process, ensuring accounting in accordance with IFRS
  • Capacity to understand and explain desk trading strategies.
  • Applying your knowledge of financial products to ensure correct valuation and accounting of financial instruments
  • Be the primary escalation point for traders and other key stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Guiding and supporting junior team members.
  • Supporting trading with ad hoc requests.
  • Ensuring operational optimisation for new trading strategies.
You will have demonstrated experience working in a similar role, with in-depth knowledge of Product Control and a broad knowledge of financial markets, financial instruments, and the financial services industry, as well as expertise in financial analysis and reporting.  

To be considered, you must be able to demonstrate the following key skills and experience:
  • CA/CPA/CFA qualified
  • A control mindset and a desire to add value add.
  • Strong financial analysis and problem-solving capabilities
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A good understanding of derivative and capital market products.
  • At least 3-5 years’ experience in Product Control and/or Middle Office. Preferred experience gained in either a trading firm and/or bank. Additional experience in Financial Control, Valuation Control highly regarded.
