My client, a leading ASX Listed Financial Services group, is seeking a high calibre Senior Financial Accountant to join their Group Accounting Policy & Advice team.   As a key member of a small decidcated team of experts, you will be responsible for providing technical accounting advice to support business in its many initiatives. This includes, but is not limited to, advising on M&A transactions, capitalisation of projects, management of relationship with the auditors and assisting in the preparation of various financial reporting obligations throughout the year.

Your key responsibilities will include:    
  • Act as the subject matter expert to review and implement new accounting and reporting requirements under AASB and IFRS;
  • Performing technical analysis and drafting accounting advice memo on potential M&A transactions and other matters on an ad-hoc basis as they arise;
  • Drafting and/or revising accounting policies in response to changes in external requirements;
  • Assisting in the preparation of sections of the group financial report with a focus on highly technical elements;
  • Assisting in the preparation of high quality commentary, analysis and explanatory notes on the group's consolidated statutory reporting;
  • Providing technical accounting training to the Statutory Reporting team and the broader finance team;
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following key attributes and experience:
  • Qualified CA or CPA
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in either a Group Statutory Reporting or Accounting Policy team in an ASX listed environment, or current experience working in External Audit or an accounting advice / consulting role in a Big 4 or large 2nd tier audit firm
  • Sound understanding of the nature and principles of accounting standards and other statutory reporting requirements
  • Excellent working knowledge of AASB and IFRS accounting standards
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Strong problem solving skills and technical mindset
