Our client is a global general insurance group very much in growth mode in Australia. They have been growing both organically and through acquisition over the last 5 years here and have further exciting plans underway.  Due to an internal secondment they have an opportunity for a senior finance manager or financial controller to join initially on a 12 month FTC.

Reporting into the CFO and leading a small team of financial accountants you will focus on:

  • Overseeing accounting processes
  • Maintaining an appropriate internal control environment
  • Maintaining the integrity of the general ledger
  • Managing the Finance components of the Risk Management Framework
  • Engagement with other stakeholders within the Group
  • Liaising with key stakeholders on tax and audit matters
  • Preparation of quarterly and annual APRA returns
  • Preparation of annual financial statements
  • Monitoring and managing statutory and regulatory change as it relates to the company (including changes to GAAP)
  • Directing and monitoring the work of other Finance team members as required

Required skills and experience:

  • CA/CPA qualified 
  • Minimum 5 - 7 years experience in financial accounting manager level role
  • Strong Insurance experience including APRA reporting (ideally general insurance)
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to manage a range of internal and external stakeholders effectively
