I am currently recruiting for an Insurance client in Brisbane to hire an Insurance Risk professional to lead all 1st Line Risk activity within an allocated portfolio in the Motor Claims business.

This vacancy would suit someone that first and foremost thrives on exposure within the business. Someone who wants to meet with and speak to the senior business stakeholders in their allocated portfolio on a consistent basis and has a very active and hands on approach to risk. In addition to this, it would also suite you if your working style is autonomous and you dislike being micromanaged. The EM hiring likes to empower her staff to run their show as they see fit.

You will be providing Risk Advice across the Motor Claims business. Reviewing Incidents and looking for trends, ensuring the internal risk controls are of sufficient quality and protecting the business against any upcoming regulatory changes. You wont be doing any of the basic work such as running controls testing - there are separate teams to take care of that - the main aspect of your role will be providing Risk advice to your stakeholders, high level overview and strategy around the quality of the internal controls and managing urgent incidents and conducting root cause analysis to identify trends to allow you to fix those problems at the source.

Responsibilities
  • Risk advice and insights to the Insurance business to achieve its operational objectives, including leading the support for the development of risk artefacts such as risk assessments and due diligence requirements for change initiatives and projects
  • Facilitation of annual, quarterly and dynamic risk assessments
  • Work directly with the business to support them in incident and breach identification, management and remediation activities.
  • Identification risks and issues within the business to ensure we are providing our customers with a high quality, market leading experience.
  • Identification of control weakness and work with the business to strengthen the control environment.
  • Design and delivery on proactive solutions to meet Risk Maturity targets
  • Relationship management with key stakeholders, including delivery of training as identified and required
  • Pro-actively engage with the Business to identify any gaps or challenges the team or their business unit are experiencing
  • Contribute to risk reporting with insights and recommendations as required
  • Identification and engagement of regulatory, legislative and compliance specialists when required
 
Experience Required
5 years within the Insurance Industry
Minimum of 3 years within Operational Risk
