Overview
The Senior AI Officer will support the AI governance and assurance activities by supporting the review and assessment of Artificial Intelligence Assessment Framework (AIAF) submissions.
Responsibilities
AIAF Review and Assurance
- Review AIAF submissions for completeness, quality and alignment with NSW Government requirements.
- Assess AI initiatives against AIAF risk domains, working with the SME panel on ethics, fairness, privacy, security,
- Identify gaps, inconsistencies and risk issues, providing clear, actionable feedback to submitters.
- Assess risk ratings and recommended assurance pathways based on scale, context and impact.
- Support the refinement of intake practices, systems and procedures to streamline AI requests

Ensure alignment of AIAF assessments with the Digital Assurance Framework (DAF), NSW AI Ethics Principles
- Support consistent application of AI governance across corporate and school-based initiatives.
- Contribute to the ongoing improvement of AIAF guidance, templates and review processes.
Desirable
Familiarity with the NSW AIAF, DAF or equivalent government frameworks.
Experience with privacy impact assessments or technology assurance processes.
Understanding of AI use in education or public-sector service delivery contexts.
