Client Details
An excellent opportunity to join a well‑respected international law firm with over 20 offices globally. They are currently seeking a Risk Lawyer to join the firm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide hands‑on legal risk and compliance support to partners and fee earners across the firm.
- Manage panel terms and exception processes, including review, negotiation support, approval tracking, and escalation of non‑standard client requirements.
- Advise on risk, AML, insurance, and engagement terms, ensuring matters are opened and scoped in line with firm policies and regulatory obligations.
- Maintain and administer a centralised database of client engagement terms, panel agreements, exceptions, and risk positions to ensure consistency and auditability.
- Provide practical, real‑time guidance on risk and compliance queries throughout the matter lifecycle, including onboarding, changes in scope, and issue resolution.
- Work closely with fee earners and business support teams to embed risk controls into day‑to‑day operations, rather than focusing on traditional know‑how or precedent development.
Requirements:
- Qualified lawyer with experience in law firm risk, compliance, or professional standards.
- Strong understanding of panel arrangements, engagement terms, AML, insurance, and regulatory risk in a private practice environment.
- Proven experience in managing datasets, agreement repositories, or approval frameworks, with strong attention to detail and audit discipline.
- Confident communicator, able to engage credibly with partners and senior stakeholders while balancing commercial and risk considerations.
- Strong communication skills in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin.
- Positive working attitude, ability to multitask, and perform under pressure.
