About the Role
As the Principal Platform Engineer, you will be the technical heartbeat of the Data Infrastructure domain. ]
Your mission is to bridge the gap between enterprise architecture and execution, embedding robust guardrails and shaping a platform capability that drives consistency across the insurance domain. This role will not have direct reports but focus on technical leaderships and hands on engineering.
What you will be doing:
Lead Platform Transformation:
Drive the shift away from the traditional chapter model toward a more integrated, technical lead-centric structure within the Data Infrastructure space.
Govern & Architect:
Partner with internal teams to embed "standard guardrails" and architectural best practices into a very mature AWS/Terraform platform.
Technical Leadership:
Act as a mentor to other Technical Leads, leading monthly Principal calls to align on enterprise standards and cross-team strategy.
Balance Execution & Strategy:
Maintain a 60/40 split between strategy & hands-on engineering execution, ensuring ideas move from theory to practical implementation.
Stakeholder Advocacy:
Act as a trusted advisor to Product and Platform Owners, "knocking on doors" to influence technology decisions and drive the decommissioning of legacy product roadmaps.
Workforce Development:
Coach and mentor senior and junior engineering talent, fostering a learning mindset to ensure the team is equipped for long-term technical sustainability.
Technical Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you must have expert-level proficiency and "hands-on" experience with the following stack:
Cloud:
AWS (Mandatory).
Infrastructure as Code:
Terraform (Mandatory).
Containerization:
Kubernetes or OpenShift.
CI/CD & Secrets:
Jenkins and Hashicorp Vault.
Monitoring & Observability:
Grafana.
