This is a fantastic opportunity to play a central role in how a large ASX-listed banking group understands and manages its Group cost base.  Sitting within Group Finance, you’ll deliver clear, driver-based insights on expense performance across forecasts, targets, and peer benchmarks—supporting Executive and Board decision-making.  Working closely with divisional, functional, and line-of-business finance teams, you’ll translate complex expense data into concise, actionable insights. You’ll explain cost movements, challenge assumptions, contribute to planning and target setting, and provide forward-looking scenario analysis to improve financial outcomes.
Key deliverables include:
  • Deliver driver-based analysis of Group expense performance, including cost base, cost growth, and key expense categories against forecasts, targets, and peer benchmarks
  • Provide clear variance analysis, commentary, and forward-looking insights for senior Finance stakeholders
  • Support Executive and Board reporting through robust modelling, sensitivity analysis, and scenario planning
  • Partner with divisional, functional, and business finance teams to enhance the quality of expense insights and decision-making
  • Maintain strong controls across data, models, and reporting outputs, including reconciliations, review checks, and documentation
  • Identify and implement opportunities to simplify, standardise, and automate reporting to improve speed, accuracy, and impact
This role will provide you with the following:
  • High visibility role with exposure to senior stakeholders and Executive-level reporting
  • Opportunity to deepen your FP&A and performance analytics capability
  • Collaborative and supportive team environment within Group Finance
  • Flexible hybrid working arrangements
  • Strong development and career progression opportunities
Key requirements for this role include:
  • CA / CPA qualification (desirable)
  • Banking / Financial Services experience preferred, but open to demonstrated group-level experience in a large ASX-listed commercial organisation.
  • A foundational understanding of planning, forecasting, and performance reporting cycles
  • Strong Excel skills, with exposure to TM1 or similar enterprise planning / GL systems
  • Developing capability in financial modelling, variance analysis, and scenario planning
  • The ability to interpret financial data and communicate clear, actionable insights
  • Strong attention to detail, with a strong control mindset and developing commercial judgement
  • Exemplary communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with confidence in presenting insights
  • Experience with BI and reporting tools, and comfort working with large data sets
