Ethos BeathChapman have partnered with a well-established international banking institute, to appoint a newly created Financial Crime Manager into their sydney based compliance function.
This is a senior second line role offering the opportunity to take ownership of a broad financial crime program across AML/CTF, sanctions and fraud while driving quality assurance and control effectiveness initiatives.
The opportunity
Reporting into the Head of Financial crime, you will play a pivotal role in shaping both the strategic direction and day-to-day oversight of the financial crime function.
This role will be highly visible within the organisatoin with a specific focus on - leading financial crime quality assurance frameworks, driving risk assessments and control testing and partnering with stakeholders across the business to strengthen compliance outcomes.
Key Responsibilities;
Design and deliver a risk-based Quality Assurance (QA) framework across financial crime controls
Conduct and oversee financial crime risk assessments and control effectiveness reviews
Review and challenge AML/CTF and sanctions alerts, investigations, and customer risk decisions
Oversee CDD, SCDD, and ECDD processes, including high-risk and complex client reviews
Lead remediation initiatives and ensure timely resolution of identified issues
Maintain and uplift financial crime policies, procedures, and frameworks
Support responses to audits, regulatory reviews, and internal assessments
Engage with stakeholders to provide expert financial crime guidance and training Mentor and support junior analysts within the team
About you
You are an experienced financial crime professional with;
6+ years' experience within Financial Crime/AML/CTF compliance and strong experience within a second line compliance function.
You will also have a sound understanding of the following.
- AML frameworks
-Sanctions
-Transaction monitoring
-Customer Due Diligence
Experience in quality assurance, control testing or risk assessment would be highli advantageous.
Good understanding of Australian regulatory requirements including AUSTRAC.
Working proficiency in Mandarin is essential.
