A leading international bank is running a multi-country APAC transformation to modernise its trade finance operating model and core platforms. The programme includes upgrading legacy trade processing and rolling out enhanced capabilities across key trade flows such as Letters of Credit (LC/LOC), documentary trade (“Docutrade”), and Open Account. As part of a regional core banking refresh, they are seeking a Vice President-level hire of a Business Analyst/Project Manager (Trade Finance – LoC, Docutrade, Open Account).
Key responsibilities
- Leading trade finance operations projects as the Project Manager, covering project planning, schedules, resourcing, governance, and management reporting.
- Driving business requirements through to clear, implementable specifications for technology teams and vendors.
- Monitoring delivery progress, risks, issues, and dependencies; steer prioritisation and action plans to keep delivery on track.
- Overseeing testing readiness and execution (e.g., review test plans), coordinate migration activities, and manage production support handover.
- Leading change management to ensure smooth adoption of new systems and procedures by operations teams.
- Managing stakeholders across functions and seniority levels, ensuring alignment to programme priorities and delivery outcomes.
Requirements
- Experience in bank trade finance back-office operations, with hands-on exposure to LC/LOC processing, documentary trade workflows (e.g., Docutrade), and/or Open Account trade flows.
- Strong understanding of end-to-end trade operations (e.g., import/export document checking, discrepancies, operational controls), with the ability to translate business needs into implementable requirements.
- Proven track record delivering change initiatives involving system/process transformation, UAT/testing, migration, and go-live readiness.
- Advantageous: vendor package implementation exposure and relevant PM/BA certifications (e.g., PMP, PMI-PBA, IIBA).
- Not suitable for pure Financial Markets (FM)/Treasury profiles (e.g., FX/Rates/Derivatives sales or trading) without substantial trade finance operations experience.
Why you should join them
- Opportunity to be part of a multi-year regional transformation with meaningful scope across APAC markets.
- Business-facing PM role with direct ownership of trade finance operational outcomes (not a purely technical PM seat).
- Strong exposure to enterprise-scale change, including process redesign, platform migration, and stakeholder leadership across countries.
