Job title: Associate Director – Credit Risk (Second Line) | Project & Corporate Finance
  • Independent second-line credit role, deal and portfolio level
  • Project finance, energy and heavy industry exposures
  • Sydney or Melbourne | Senior, visible role with committee exposure
The opportunity
Our client is a well-capitalised financial institution with a growing book of corporate and project finance exposures across energy, infrastructure and heavy industry. They are looking for an Associate Director to join a small, senior credit risk team in an independent second-line capacity.
This is a hands-on role. You will form your own view on individual transactions, challenge proposals constructively, and give clear, concise advice to credit and investment committees. You will also help shape how the portfolio is monitored as it grows.

What you’ll do
  • Independently assess new transactions and write clear, well-reasoned credit risk opinions for committee
  • Challenge deal teams on structure, covenants, key risks and mitigants
  • Monitor existing exposures: performance against base case, covenant compliance and early warning signs
  • Lead the risk input on watchlist and remediation plans for underperforming exposures
  • Contribute to portfolio-level reporting, concentration analysis and credit risk frameworks
  • Present to and engage with senior stakeholders, including committees and executives
What you’ll bring
  • 8+ years in institutional or corporate credit, investment risk or commercial banking
  • Strong experience in project finance, infrastructure, energy, resources or heavy industry credit
  • A second-line credit risk background, or a credit role focused on independent assessment rather than origination
  • The ability to go deep on a single transaction and also see the wider portfolio picture
  • Concise, confident written and verbal communication, and the ability to hold your view under questioning
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn across a broad range of transaction types
Why apply
  • A senior role where your judgement directly shapes credit decisions
  • Broad exposure across sectors and deal types, rather than a narrow slice of large transactions
  • Visibility with committees and senior leadership
  • Sydney or Melbourne
