About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Principal Architect – AI Transformation
to lead the enterprise architecture strategy for Artificial Intelligence across a large, complex organisation. This is a strategic leadership role where you will define the future state of AI architecture, establish enterprise standards, and partner with senior technology and business leaders to drive the successful adoption of AI capabilities.
Working closely with the Head of Enterprise Architecture and executive stakeholders, you will provide technical leadership across AI architecture, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, governed, and aligned with the broader technology strategy.
Required
Experience:
- Act as the enterprise architecture authority for AI across the organisation.Develop and maintain the AI technology strategy, architecture roadmaps, and target state architectures.
- Define enterprise architecture standards, principles, patterns, and reference architectures for AI solutions.Provide strategic technology advice to executive stakeholders, including senior business and technology leaders.
- Govern architecture decisions, ensuring AI solutions align with enterprise strategy, security, and risk requirements.
- Lead architecture reviews, technology selection, and solution governance across major transformation initiatives.
- Partner with Data, Cloud, Security, Engineering, and Technology teams to deliver scalable AI platforms and capabilities.
- Drive architecture outcomes for emerging AI technologies, including Generative AI, agentic AI, and enterprise AI platforms.
- Mentor and provide technical leadership to Solution Architects across multiple programs.Champion architecture best practices and contribute to the continuous improvement of the enterprise architecture function.
About You
You are an experienced Enterprise Architect with a proven track record of delivering enterprise-wide technology transformation and modern AI initiatives. You combine strategic thinking with deep technical expertise and have the ability to influence executive stakeholders while providing practical architectural leadership.
You'll bring:
- 10+ years' experience across enterprise technology, architecture, or technology strategy.
- 5+ years' experience in an Enterprise, Principal, or Lead Architecture role.
- Demonstrated experience designing and delivering enterprise AI solutions and transformation programs.
- Strong understanding of modern AI architectures, including Generative AI, LLMs, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), AI agents, multi-agent architectures, agent orchestration, and human-in-the-loop AI.
- Experience designing enterprise AI platforms using technologies such as Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, Microsoft Copilot, OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar.
- Strong knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF and architecture governance practices.
- Experience developing technology strategies, architecture roadmaps, and enterprise standards.
- Strong understanding of cloud architecture, integration, data platforms, security, and enterprise applications.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience influencing executive leadership.
- Experience mentoring architects and leading architecture communities of practice.
Desirable Experience
- Financial Services, Wealth Management, Insurance, or other highly regulated industry experience.
- Experience working with AI governance, responsible AI frameworks, and technology risk.
- Experience supporting large-scale enterprise transformation programs.
- Knowledge of architecture tooling and modelling frameworks.
