Our client is a leading Australian financial services organisation seeking an experienced Financial Crime Senior Risk Analyst to join its Financial Crime Surveillance function on an initial 6-month contract basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for a financial crime professional with strong AML/CTF, sanctions, investigations, and customer risk assessment experience to join a high-performing team responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating financial crime risks across the business.

The Opportunity
As a Senior Risk Analyst, you will be responsible for conducting complex investigations into potential AML/CTF and sanctions-related matters, assessing customer risk, and delivering clear, evidence-based recommendations. You will work closely with key stakeholders across the business to support risk-based decision-making and ensure compliance with regulatory obligations

Key Responsibilities
Conduct investigations into AML/CTF, sanctions, and other financial crime-related matters.
Analyse customer profiles, transaction activity, and associated networks to assess financial crime risk.
Deliver evidence-based risk assessments and recommendations regarding customer treatment and risk mitigation strategies.
Apply legislative, regulatory, and internal policy requirements to ensure investigation outcomes are compliant and defensible.
Identify, assess, and escalate financial crime risks, control gaps, and potential regulatory breaches where appropriate.
Partner with stakeholders across risk, compliance, legal, and business teams to communicate investigation outcomes and recommended actions.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support the uplift of financial crime investigation capability within the team.
Maintain awareness of emerging financial crime typologies, regulatory developments, and industry best practices

About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
Proven experience within Financial Crime, AML/CTF, Sanctions, KYC/CDD/EDD, or a related risk function.
Strong investigation skills with the ability to assess complex information and form balanced, risk-based conclusions
Experience conducting customer risk assessments and analysing transaction activity.
Sound understanding of AML/CTF legislation, sanctions obligations, and broader financial crime risk frameworks.
Experience using transaction monitoring and financial crime systems, such as ControlIQ or similar platforms.
Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to present recommendations clearly and confidently.
The ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining high-quality outcomes within agreed timeframes.
