Ethos BeathChapman has been engaged to appoint a Director, Investment Risk for a high-profile institutional investment organisation with a large and diversified investment mandate.
This is a rare opportunity for a senior investment risk professional to join a sophisticated and commercially focused environment operating across complex private market investments, structured transactions and long-term capital deployment strategies.
Reporting to the Chief Risk Officer, this role will lead independent investment risk oversight across debt, equity and investment fund activities while partnering closely with investment and portfolio teams on transaction execution, portfolio management and governance outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead second-line investment risk oversight across a broad range of investment activities and transactions
  • Provide independent review, challenge and risk opinions on proposed investments and portfolio matters
  • Partner with investment teams to support commercially sound and well-structured investment outcomes
  • Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of investment risk frameworks, methodologies and governance processes
  • Support portfolio monitoring activities including amendments, waivers, emerging risks and early warning indicators
  • Prepare clear and concise investment risk assessments for executive and committee-level stakeholders
  • Promote strong investment risk capability and culture across the broader organisation
About You

To be successful, you will bring:
  • 15+ years’ experience within institutional investment, commercial banking, private markets or alternative asset environments
  • Strong experience across private equity, venture capital, private credit, structured finance and/or investment funds
  • Deep technical understanding of investment risk, illiquid asset valuation and portfolio construction concepts
  • Experience operating in either first-line or second-line investment risk functions
  • Strong commercial judgement with the ability to assess complex opportunities pragmatically and efficiently
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including exposure to executive-level decision-making forums
  • A collaborative and solutions-oriented approach with the confidence to provide constructive challenge where required
Experience within highly regulated or complex institutional investment environments will be highly regarded.
