We have been exclusively engaged by a major Australian financial institution to appoint an Associate Director – Regulatory Insights & Obligations. This is a senior, high‑impact role requiring deep superannuation expertise and proven capability in regulatory horizon scanning, impact assessment, and executive‑level communication.

About the Role

You will be the organisation’s primary source of regulatory foresight — identifying emerging obligations, interpreting complex change, and ensuring the business understands what is coming and how to respond. Your insights will influence decision‑making across product teams, distribution teams, GMs, and Group Executives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead structured regulatory horizon scanning across legislation, prudential standards, and industry developments
  • Analyse emerging changes and provide clear, concise business interpretations
  • Tailor communication for diverse audiences including product, distribution, line 1, line 2, GMs, and Group Executives
  • Maintain and uplift the enterprise obligations management framework
  • Oversee the assignment, monitoring, and attestation of obligations
  • Support annual compliance plan reviews and uplift initiatives
  • Deliver monitoring and assurance activities to identify gaps and emerging risks
  • Provide high‑quality reporting to senior leaders, committees, and boards
  • Ensure regulatory change programs have strong governance and sponsorship
Skills & Experience
  • 8+ years’ experience in risk and compliance within financial services
  • Deep superannuation regulatory knowledge (mandatory)
  • Demonstrated experience in regulatory horizon scanning and impact assessment
  • Ability to translate complex regulatory change into clear, actionable insights
  • Proven capability to adapt communication style for technical teams through to Group Executives
  • Strong presence, credibility, and the gravitas to influence senior stakeholders
  • Excellent written communication and analytical capability
  • Experience in transforming or multi‑sector environments
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications
