Our client, a leading Government Department are looking for a Technical Officer - Telecommunications to join team on an initial 12 month contract with potential for extension.  
This role will provide field engineering support on the Critical Communications Enhancement Program (CCEP), delivering an enhanced Government Radio Network across NSW for NSW Government agencies and essential services.

This role will provide:
  • Support to construction teams installing, commissioning and integrating new CCEP sites
  • Complete power system optimisation, software updates and quality checks to achieve operational acceptance
  • Undertake installation works on power systems, radio and transmission infrastructure
  • Complete site audit and data gathering
  • Provide operational support to maintain Network infrastructure
  • Escalate or flag issues to the Delivery team and project manager
  • Develop, review, and enhance processes and technical documentation, assist with the management of engineering documentation
  • Provide progress reports, monthly reporting and any other report as required
  • Adhere to and promote a safe working environment in compliance with HSE requirements
  • Cert IV in Communications, Telecommunications Engineering or equivalent
  • 5+ years’ experience in an operational or technical environment with P25 Radio / Telecommunications networks
  • High level of knowledge and experience in analogue radio (VHF, UHF), digital radio, and microwave systems
  • Fundamental knowledge of Public Safety / Mission Critical systems and how these networks differ from commercial telecommunications networks
  • Understanding of the operation of DC power systems, solar systems, diesel generators
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting abilities
  • Experience working in a live network environment
  • Ability to travel regularly, this is a filed based role with significant travel required to sites around NSW
Candidates can be regionally based . Attendance at the McKell office would be minimal as it is a field based role.
