An opportunity for a Policy Manager to join the Policy and Regulatory Reform team on a contract until the end of October with high potential for an extension.

The successful candidate will manage small agile teams of policy officers, to lead a range of policy projects, including the development of policy responses and regulatory reform proposals to support safe, productive and sustainable freight.

Key accountabilities:
 
  • Drive and manage policy initiatives, as well as influencing other areas of Government to achieve the strategic objectives of the Freight Branch.
  • Build strong working relationships internally and externally through exceptional stakeholder management skills.
  • Lead on policy initiatives and matters related to freight ensuring a multi-model view and having regard to freight strategy target outcomes
  • Research, analyse and review complex policy issues, identifying emerging issues, developing evidence based options, and recommend solutions to resolve problems and mitigate risks
  • • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, facilitating their engagement in, and contribution to, the identification and development of policy solutions and to inform policy decision making
  • Monitor, evaluate and report on the development and implementation of policies to identify issues and ensure the achievement of desired outcomes
Essential requirements: 
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team to deliver quality, customer-focused products and services that align with strategic outcomes.
  • Solid experience working collaboratively, leading multiple policy projects and have the ability to manage agile teams to deliver results.
  • Excellent written communication skills with a capacity to gather and analyse complex information and present it in a logical, systematic and clear format.
