Our client is a leading Australian Insurance group and employer of choice offering outstanding work life balance, agile working model, flexible working hours. They are currently going through a large finance transformation program and are looking for a Lead Finance BA / Project Manager with accounting/finance transformation background to join the finance stream of the program in a rolling 6 month contract (due to run for 2 years). Reporting into the Program Manager, Finance, you will focus on ensuring finance requirements are developed, documented and agreed to meet the business requirements of projects under the finance Program.

You will act as key liaison point between Finance, Program, business stakeholders, technology and Finance PM's and other key implementation groups to ensure that business needs are captured, understood and produce outcomes that meet the needs of both Finance and the business. You will work closely with Stream Lead and Finance SME's on the project. 

Key deliverables will include:

  • Project Manage the month end close process with the view of improving the process and reducing time to close.
  • Project Manage other improvement areas as they arise in consultation with Finance Program Manager and GM Finance Transformation
  • Working with all teams involved in the close process and identify areas of improvement, automation and potentially robotisation.
  • Document improvement ideas and work through month end tasks to identify efficiency opportunities, dependencies and control improvement ideas
  • Prepare Project plan with all relevant parties including Finance Systems team to deliver improvement opportunities
  • Engagement of the relevant Subject Matter Experts for Finance and ensuring regular and effective communication is provided on progress.
  • Responsible for identifying and planning the steps needed to meet the close targets for efficiency and timing.
  • Work with Finance Program Manager to Improve other finance processes as required and track benefits.
  • Regular Communication of progress to Broader finance including FLT.
Required skills and experience:
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline.
  • Experience in a Lead BA / hands on Finance Project Manager role for a complex, matrix general insurance /  financial services organisation.
  • Experience working in finance Run teams and the month end processes.
  • Proven analytical and critical thinking capability.
  • Ability to interpret and analyse complex information, extract meaningful insights and evaluate options for decision-making.
  • Ability to plan and prioritise effectively, organise tasks and manage competing resources and demands.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of communicating with audiences at all levels with clarity, impact and influence
