Primary purpose of the role:
Our client a leading NSW Government Department are looking for a Senior Open Space and Program Officer to join their team on a contract until February with potential for extension.
The position manages projects and provides technical advice on public open space planning and program creation and delivery. The role works as part of a team to deliver a state-wide program for open space projects to achieve planned objectives to provide more, better shared and open space for the community.

Key accountabilities
  • Advocate, represent and coordinate open space programs, to ensure the programs meet Government policy and Departmental work commitments in relation to allocated program milestones and funding allocations.
  • Manage, plan and implement projects, including developing and monitoring project plans, coordinating resources, and monitoring budgets to ensure successful project milestones are met.
  • Assist in the development, implementation and promotion of high-quality public and open space programs to support positive environmental, economic and social outcomes.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to promote program delivery and enhance engagement, consultation and negotiation for open space programs and projects.
  • Prepare detailed reports, submissions, briefing notes and correspondence to address identified issues and respond to requests for information
Key knowledge and experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience working across multiple stakeholder groups including consultation and stakeholder management
  • Experience in the planning, design and management of open space areas and green infrastructure
  • Experience in the management of projects and programs including planning, delivery and reporting, including the delivery of open space projects
  • Experience in project management techniques and project management applications including an ability to supervise multiple projects, meet deadlines and manage competing priorities.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
Essential requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in project management, landscape architecture, urban design, planning or a relevant discipline and / or equivalent experience.
