Our client a leading NSW Government Department are looking for a communications specialist to join them on a 6 month contract with potential for extension.

The purpose of a dedicated safety communications specialist role is to enable the client to support the delivery of continuous improvement initiatives  in the area of safety critical communications.

This position will also help the organisations safety functions transition to the new structure and gauge the organisations future support needs.

  • Develop and execute the safety communications strategy, including objectives, messaging and a calendar of events and proactive communications campaigns and the agency’s key safety and environmental risks
  • Prepare and implement communication plans for key safety and environmental initiatives and support communications uplift.
  • Prepare and deliver a communications plan to support the uplift in safety critical communications.
  • Manage events to activate teams across the agency by holding local events/activities around key awareness campaigns including the organisation involvement in Rail Safety Week.
  • Prepare content and collateral for internal communication channels on BAU safety and environmental messaging and campaigns
  • Prepare quarterly reports and analysis of the performance of communications delivered to the Safety Committee, and provide other reports/updates to other committees as required

Key deliverables include:
  • Safety communications strategy and plan with a calendar of specific activities and deadlines
  • Tracked progress in delivering the plan and report to the Safety Committee
  • Prepare and execute a plan to transition communications to the Safety Division, according to implementation
