Primary purpose of the role

The Project Officer performs project management and support activities in the development and delivery of a diverse range of major and minor Infrastructure projects in line with the Organisations established objectives.  This role will provide support to the Senior Physical Infrastructure Manager in the delivery of building refurbishment/upgrades and related projects across the the Organisation whilst achieving their objectives and outcomes in relation to a wide range of stakeholders, occupants, and visitors to the Museum.
 
Key accountabilities
  • Manage and monitor all aspects of project planning, development and implementation for a range of projects, including developing project plans, coordinating resources, managing budgets, meeting reporting requirements, and supporting project-related activities, to ensure project outcomes are achieved on time, on budget, to quality standards and within agreed scope in line with established agency project management methodology.
  • Establish and maintain stakeholder relationships through effective communication, negotiation and issues management to engage stakeholders and ensure project deliverables are met.
  • Liaise with other divisions to negotiate outcomes and resources for inter-divisional projects ensuring projects are delivering on time.
  • Assists with the implementation of business transformational processes and procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation for reporting, monitoring and evaluation purposes to ensure accessibility of quality information and contribute to the achievement of project outcomes.
  • Communicate with key stakeholders and coordinate working groups, committees and consultations to facilitate exchange of information and support project completion in line with project plans.
Essential requirements
  • Demonstrated experience in managing projects, risk and stakeholder engagement
  • High-level time management skills and written skills with the ability to prioritise multiple pieces of work according to the importance
  • Demonstrated strong working knowledge of and experience with the technical details of building fabric, structure, engineering/building services within major public and heritage building environment.
