Our client, a leading NSW Government Department seek an experienced  Project Manager to join their team on a 9 month contract with potential for extension.

Primary purpose of the role:Initiate, design, deliver, manage and control a project through its lifecycle. Develop relevant plans and monitor and control in line with the approved baseline. Ensure that risks and issues are promptly addressed, and project deliverables and objectives are achieved in line with the icare way.

Key accountabilities:
  • Project Planning. Understand how the project aligns to the business strategy and facilitate the development of the Business Case. Develop the project management plan ensuring an efficient and effective resource profile and project schedule.
  • Benefits Management. Assist the Business Owner and/or Program Manager in the assessment and development of the target outcomes and benefits, and structure the project to ensure delivery, adoption and handover of the agreed project objectives.
  • Project Governance. Work with the Business Owner to set up the monitoring and governance routines, delivery of high-quality progress reporting and insights, and effective chairing of the project steering committee to make decisions and resolve issues to drive towards outcomes.
  • Project Management. Be accountable for the delivery of the project objectives against the base lined scope, cost, schedule and deliverables,
  • Risk Management. Identify, respond and manage all associated risks, assumptions and issues on the projects. Develop, manage and undertake regular reviews of the project risk register, and escalate risks in accordance with agreed frameworks.
  • Change and Communication Management. Work with Change and Communication resources to formulate and integrate change management activities into the overall plan, and subsequently ensure delivery of an effective change management and communication plan that leads to successful adoption of the project objectives.
Essential requirements:
  • Qualification in Project Management (Prince2, PMBOK).
  • Highly developed collaborative and partnering approach to stakeholder management.
  • Pre-employment checks.
  • A range of experience in project management ie. minimum 10 years
  • Tertiary level qualifications at degree level in business management or related discipline or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience acquired through extensive experience
