Following the recent March-April 2022 Floods, and the devastation that our communities across NSW have experienced, our client a leadinf NSW Government Department based at Sydney Olympic Park are seeking candidates with WHS experience to join our Health Safety & Wellbeing team on a 12 month+ opportunity.
There is flexibility to work between the office and home.
The WHS Advisor role will contribute to the development and implementation of a range of WHS programs and initiatives as part of setting up our Executive Agency WHS portfolio as well as supporting our agency to navigate recovery efforts and safety related matters before, during and after a disaster.

Additionally, this role will work in partnership with internal and external stakeholders across the cluster and the Emergency Management sector to promote employee safety, welfare, and wellbeing.

Some key responsibilities 
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to reinforce a safety-first culture.
  • Contribute to the development and rollout of a fit for purpose Safety Management System (Safety Suite).
  • Partner with the business to improve our risk awareness and develop safe work practices.
  • Manage incident investigations, following up findings to prevent reoccurrence and mitigate potential risk.
  • Create and report on Health & Safety metrics to inform senior management on agency trends and risks, including COVID-19 impact.
  • Project manage the development and delivery of initiatives that focus on enhancing employee health and wellbeing.
  • Prepare correspondence and briefs, that are informative and aligned with our agency safety requirements.
  • Support the agency during disasters and recovery efforts.
In order to be eligible for this role you will have:
  • Tertiary qualifications in occupational health and/or equivalent experience in a relevant field
  • Sound knowledge of WHS legislation, regulations and Australian and international standards
  • Experience in providing expert WHS advice and support within high risk operational teams and environments.
  • An ability and willingness to travel within NSW and support other operational roles during disasters, emergencies and other events, consistent with skills, background and personal circumstances
