Our client a leading NSW Government Department are looking for a Network and Safety Officer to join their team  on a contract until the end of August 2023 with potential for extension.
The Network and Safety Officer is responsible for arranging and conducting traffic and safety investigations and technical assessments, identifying options to address road safety and traffic management issues, and representing RMS on council traffic and development committees.
 
Key accountabilities
  • Undertake traffic, safety and land use development investigations, audits and technical assessments to identify options to address network issues. This may include site, road length, speed zone, signposting and delineation investigations, arranging minor upgrade works, and providing advice during proposal and project development.
  • Implement network management procedures and contribute to local quality audits and reviews of state wide procedures, to ensure the quality of the unit’s activities, outcomes, and records.
  • Provide high level network management advice within the Organisation and to councils through Traffic and Development Committees to ensure effective resolution of issues and good project outcomes.
  • Provide timely and considered responses to customer and stakeholder issues to contribute to the unit’s customer focus.
  • Apply project management techniques to plan and deliver allocated tasks to assist in ensuring program delivery targets are met in the precinct.
  • Work collaboratively with other precincts to build a consistent approach to network and safety management across traffic, speed and guidance and delineation within Sydney Division.
 
Essential requirements Role Description Network and Safety Officer
  • Tertiary qualification in traffic engineering or a related discipline, and/or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • Ability to lead teams and junior staff in technical investigations and development of options to address network management issues.
  • High level understanding of network management policies, guidelines, technical directions and procedures
  • Proven ability to investigate and develop solutions to complex network management problems.
