Our client a leading NSW Government Department based in Potts Hill are looking for a Contract Officer to join their team on a 6 month contract, with potential for extension.

The role is accountable for the management of contracts, to deliver civil maintenance related works and services for the Client, Key tasks include management of contractors, planning and coordinating the delivery of works and services, verification of payment claims, site inspections, plus data analysis and reporting.

Day to Day Duties

  • For the assigned work portfolio/s ensure the delivery of the work plan, services and assigned projects on time and within the approved budget. Be actively involved in the coordination, scoping, methodology and allocation of works, and monitor completion.

  • Significantly contribute to the completion of procurement activities (development of procurement strategy, contract documentation, tender evaluation and onboarding of contractors).

  • Follow The Organisations contract management policies and procedures, and ensure contracts meet compliance, probity, audit and statutory requirements.

  • Administer allocated contracts including measurement and payments, evaluating performance, contract variations, cost adjustments, contract extensions and dispute resolution.

  • Apply time management principles to minimise the risk of poor contractual outcomes

  • Conduct contract audits and site inspections for safety, environment and quality parameters on a risk based frequency. 

In order to be eligible for this role you will have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering or Science, and/or 5+ years relevant contract / project management experience, and/or relevant water industry construction or maintenance experience

  • Knowledge in contract management, including detailed understanding of compliance, probity and audit requirements and how they relate to commercial contracts.

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, along with strong listening and interpretation skills.

  • Ability to form strong, positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, with a genuine customer focus.

  • Ability to present complex and varied data in a concise and easy understood manner.

  • Computer literacy (moderate to high level) in the application of software package’s used in the Business.

  • Experience in procurement activities contributing to the development of appropriate strategies, formulation and negotiation of commercial contracts, and subsequent management of contracts including dispute resolution.
