Company introduction:
A leading global technology services and delivery organisation is expanding its Banking & Financial Services practice in APAC. The team partners enterprise clients on complex transformation programmes - shaping solution architecture, guiding delivery execution, and ensuring outcomes are realised across business, operations, and technology stakeholders. They are hiring a newly created permanent position of a Solution Architect (Banking) – Applications, Cloud as a key part of their expansion plans.
Job responsibilities:
- Act as the banking domain solution architect for transformation initiatives, owning solution design from discovery through implementation.
- Translate business requirements into end-to-end solution architecture (applications, integration, data, and security), ensuring scalability and operational resilience.
- Lead architecture and solution workshops with stakeholders (business, ops, technology) to align scope, dependencies, risks, and target outcomes.
- Work closely with delivery and engineering teams to guide build execution, unblock technical issues, and ensure solutions are delivered as designed (this is not a “paper architecture” role).
- Provide domain guidance across relevant banking areas (e.g., digital channels / financial services domains such as cash management, trade finance, wealth/private banking), ensuring solutions reflect real-world banking workflows.
- Support client engagements with architecture inputs for proposals/RFPs, solution options, and delivery approach when required.
Tech environment (high-level, indicative):
- Modern application and integration patterns (e.g., microservices, event-driven architecture, API-first integration).
- Cloud-first solutions on AWS/Azure/GCP with strong security-by-design considerations (e.g., IAM).
Job requirements:
- Engineering foundation strongly preferred (e.g., started in software engineering before moving into architecture), with proven hands-on depth - not just high-level diagrams.
- Strong experience as a Solution Architect / Technical Architect delivering banking programmes end-to-end, with the ability to explain designs, trade-offs, and project outcomes clearly.
- Banking domain SME exposure with local bank project experience preferred; background can be from an end-user bank or a Systems Integrator/vendor.
- Strong solutioning experience across applications and integration architecture, including:
- Microservices and modern application patterns
- Event-driven architecture (where appropriate)
- API/integration design (service boundaries, resiliency patterns, interoperability)
- Solid, current cloud architecture experience on AWS / Azure / GCP (recent hands-on exposure is important; outdated cloud experience is a common rejection reason).
- Good security-by-design understanding in regulated environments (e.g., IAM, security controls, compliance-aware design).
- Comfortable operating in a delivery-led model - partnering closely with customers and delivery teams, balancing technical design with execution oversight (e.g., ~50/50 technical vs delivery).
