Specialist financial services group require an experienced candidate with strong technical accounting and IFRS standards knowledge for a project role focused on implementing a number of new IFRS standards.

Reporting to the Group Financial Controller you will focus on the following:

  • Prepare accounting policies and position papers in relation to IFRS 9 and IFRS 17 as applicable to to entities within the group
  • Working with the actuaries and others stakeholders, analyse, prepare and report on impact assessments
  • Identify and advice on operational process changes required as a result of adopting the new accounting standards.
  • Assist with statutory and regulatory reporting activities. This includes preparing financial statement disclosures and contributing to the broader finance team as required
This will initially be a contract role however there is a strong chance it will become permanent on completion of successful 6 month contract

Required skills and experience:

  • CA or CPA with at least 3 years of post qualified experience. (mandatory)
  • Have experienced in providing IFRS / AASB technical accounting advice and implementation. (mandatory)
  • Demonstrated ability to be proactive, collaborative and a problem solver. (mandatory)
  • Excellent time management and prioritisation skills. (mandatory)
  • Australian insurance / financial services industry experience (desirable).
  • Big 4 accounting firm background / technical accounting adviser in a large / complex organisation (desirable)
