About the Division
This role sits within a Healthcare Technology division that operates like a modern product organisation, embedded closely with public healthcare agencies and statutory boards. The team builds and maintains digital platforms that directly serve Singapore's public healthcare sector — including patient-facing registries, national claims platforms, and compliance systems.

The Role
As an Engineering Manager, you will own the technical direction, design, implementation, and delivery of products across one or more squads. You'll sit at the intersection of engineering leadership and product thinking — guiding teams, driving quality, and shaping the long-term technical roadmap.

What You'll Do
  • Define and communicate your team's engineering vision and strategy, aligned to broader organisational goals
  • Partner with product, design, and cross-functional stakeholders to manage roadmaps and deliver incrementally and efficiently
  • Own the long-term technical roadmap for your squads, keeping it current against evolving product, security, compliance, and infrastructure needs
  • Drive cross-squad technical alignment and establish shared practices, tooling, and quality standards
  • Set norms for AI-assisted development — including guardrails, code review standards, and quality benchmarks
  • Lead structured 1:1s and performance conversations; mentor and develop engineers at all levels
  • Own quality, reliability, and security strategies within your team
  • Contribute to senior hiring and recruitment efforts
  • Proactively identify and drive high-impact engineering initiatives

What They're Looking For
Technical
  • Proven track record leading and delivering technically complex products
  • Experience with large-scale, high-availability software systems
  • Solid full-stack depth across modern technologies:
    • Frontend: Next.js / React.js / Nuxt / Vue.js
    • Backend: Java / TypeScript / Node.js / Golang
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases and data modelling
  • Cloud platform experience — AWS preferred; Azure or GCP also relevant
  • Experience with observability and monitoring tooling (e.g. ELK stack, CloudWatch)
  • Bonus: legacy system modernisation experience
Leadership & Mindset
  • Demonstrated people leadership across multiple squads or levels — including developing senior talent, navigating performance challenges, and building a culture of ownership
  • Excellent communication skills — able to influence senior stakeholders, facilitate trade-off discussions, and translate strategy into actionable engineering direction
  • Deep commitment to engineering craft: code quality, system design, holding teams to a high bar
  • Strong product mindset — customer-centric, data-driven, comfortable partnering with PMs as a peer
  • Comfortable with ambiguity; drives clarity without waiting for direction
  • Actively engaged with the evolving tech landscape, including AI-assisted development tools
