Client Introduction
Our client is a well-established  financial services organisation. They are looking to hire a permanent  Senior IT Project Manager (Trading, Settlement systems, Governance)  to be the first dedicated project lead within the team, with a key mandate to strengthen project governance, improve tracking, and drive the delivery of important IT initiatives across the business.

This is a hands-on role for someone who can bring structure, work closely with technical and business stakeholders, and manage multiple projects across core business systems and supporting technology platforms.

Job Responsibilities
  • Lead end-to-end delivery of key IT projects, from planning through execution to closure
  • Set up practical project governance, reporting standards, templates, and tracking processes for the IT team
  • Establish better visibility across project scope, timelines, budgets, risks, and dependencies
  • Manage multiple projects at the same time, including initiatives impacting trading-related and back-office systems
  • Work closely with application teams, developers, vendors, and business stakeholders to ensure smooth delivery
  • Track project progress and provide clear updates to senior management
  • Drive risk, issue, change, and dependency management across projects
  • Support project prioritisation, coordination, and resource planning across the team
  • Coordinate regional or cross-functional initiatives where required

Job Requirements
  • At least 7 years of IT project management experience, with strong end-to-end delivery exposure
  • Candidates from financial services environments will be highly regarded
  • Exposure to trading, brokerage, capital markets, settlement, or other transaction-heavy environments will be advantageous
  • Highly advantageous: Experience managing projects related to  trading systems and back office systems (e.g. settlement systems), need to know nuances of downstream and upstream
  • Prior experience introducing or improving project governance, project controls, or PMO-related practices
  • Strong experience managing budgets, timelines, scope, risks, and stakeholder expectations
  • Comfortable working as an individual contributor in a lean environment rather than relying on a full PMO team (1st Project Manager in the team)
  • Exposure to enterprise technology projects across areas such as applications, infrastructure, operations systems, or digital transformation
  • Good experience managing external vendors and coordinating across internal technical teams
  • Familiarity with Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery models
  • PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management certification preferred
  • Vendors / service providers with relevant financial services project experience may also be considered

Why You Should Join Them
  • Opportunity to be the first dedicated project lead and make a visible impact
  • High ownership role with the chance to build governance and improve how projects are run
  • Broad project exposure across business-critical technology initiatives
  • Strong interaction with senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams
  • Opportunity to work on meaningful projects that affect key systems and processes across the organisation
  • Suitable for someone who enjoys both setting up structure and delivering projects hands-on
