Our client is a well-established financial services organisation. They are looking to hire a permanent Senior IT Project Manager (Trading, Settlement systems, Governance) to be the first dedicated project lead within the team, with a key mandate to strengthen project governance, improve tracking, and drive the delivery of important IT initiatives across the business.
This is a hands-on role for someone who can bring structure, work closely with technical and business stakeholders, and manage multiple projects across core business systems and supporting technology platforms.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end delivery of key IT projects, from planning through execution to closure
- Set up practical project governance, reporting standards, templates, and tracking processes for the IT team
- Establish better visibility across project scope, timelines, budgets, risks, and dependencies
- Manage multiple projects at the same time, including initiatives impacting trading-related and back-office systems
- Work closely with application teams, developers, vendors, and business stakeholders to ensure smooth delivery
- Track project progress and provide clear updates to senior management
- Drive risk, issue, change, and dependency management across projects
- Support project prioritisation, coordination, and resource planning across the team
- Coordinate regional or cross-functional initiatives where required
Job Requirements
- At least 7 years of IT project management experience, with strong end-to-end delivery exposure
- Candidates from financial services environments will be highly regarded
- Exposure to trading, brokerage, capital markets, settlement, or other transaction-heavy environments will be advantageous
- Highly advantageous: Experience managing projects related to trading systems and back office systems (e.g. settlement systems), need to know nuances of downstream and upstream
- Prior experience introducing or improving project governance, project controls, or PMO-related practices
- Strong experience managing budgets, timelines, scope, risks, and stakeholder expectations
- Comfortable working as an individual contributor in a lean environment rather than relying on a full PMO team (1st Project Manager in the team)
- Exposure to enterprise technology projects across areas such as applications, infrastructure, operations systems, or digital transformation
- Good experience managing external vendors and coordinating across internal technical teams
- Familiarity with Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery models
- PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management certification preferred
- Vendors / service providers with relevant financial services project experience may also be considered
