About the role
As the Principal Technology Engineering Lead, you will be the technical heartbeat of the DI Transformation Office. Reporting to the Technology & Delivery Director, you will lead a high-caliber function of approximately 11 Principal Engineers. Your mission is to bridge the gap between ideation and execution, embedding robust pre-delivery controls and shaping a cross-functional engineering capability that transcends individual platforms to drive enterprise-wide consistency.
What you will be doing:
- Lead Engineering Transformation: Drive the shift toward a cross-functional model, moving from platform-centric silos to a versatile "one-team" engineering cohort.
- Govern & Architect: Partner with Practice Leads to embed "end-gate" quality controls, standardization, and architectural guardrails into the pre-delivery lifecycle.
- Influence Delivery Models: Work closely with Chapter Leads and ELTs to refine program delivery, prioritizing tech execution upfront to ensure high-quality batch releases.
- Platform Maturity: Act as a technical authority across complex ecosystems including Duck Creek, AEM, Smart Communications, and MuleSoft integrations.
- Strategic Uplift: Develop and mature internal Intellectual Property (IP), focusing on feature toggling, automation benchmarks, and release strategies to reduce technical debt.
- Stakeholder Advocacy: Act as a trusted advisor to Executive leadership, "knocking on doors" to influence technology decisions and navigate complex delivery challenges.
- Workforce Development: Coach and mentor senior engineering talent, fostering a learning mindset and ensuring the workforce is equipped for long-term technical sustainability.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with Australian financial services regulations, particularly APRA CPS234.
- Engineering Roots: A deep-rooted background in software engineering with the ability to "get into the detail" of technical conversations with Principal-level peers.
- Leadership Excellence: technology leadership with a proven track record of managing delivery execution and influencing senior executive stakeholders.
- Insurance/FS Expertise: Extensive experience within the Insurance or Financial Services sector, understanding the regulatory and technical nuances of the industry.
- SDLC Mastery: Comprehensive knowledge of the end-to-end Software Development Lifecycle, particularly in complex, multi-platform environments.
